Howards End is situated in the very heart of Provincetown, but far enough from the hustle and bustle to enjoy a good nights rest.  In addition, we are just steps away from the ferry, bus depot and town beaches.  Howards End's intimate size makes it ideally suited for both couples and singles. Guest rooms are cheerful, comfortable and airy, and we offer a choice of Queen, full or single sized beds, with private, semi-private or shared baths.  The house, built in 1840, was the residence of the whaling Captain Ezra Cook. In the late 1920's through the 1940's it was the retreat of American composer Cole Porter.  In 1946 it was converted into a guest house, and is one of Provincetown's oldest continuously operating Bed and Breakfasts. Each day begins with a complimentary continental breakfast consisting of juice, homemade muffins, freshly brewed coffee and assorted teas.  Our spacious common room is a nice place to chat with other guests or just snuggle up to read a good book by the fireplace, or listen to selections from our vast CD collection. Wireless internet connection is also available.

After a day at the beach, whale watching, or biking on the paved trails at the National Seashore, relax in he patio-garden, another great way to meet other guests and or just unwind after the days activities.  Our patio deck is a perfect place to enjoy a romantic evening. Although a car is not necessary because of our central location, special arrangements for parking are available. The town Loop-bus stops right on our corner to take you to the National Seashore.  Sunset at Herring Cove is a sight not to be missed.  Just a block away from the house is Provincetown's life-line Commercial Street.  It is quite an adventure just strolling down Commercial Street browsing through the unique shops and galleries.  The Pilgrim Monument and Museum (our next door neighbor,) affords a breathtaking view of the entire lower Cape.  Dining out in Provincetown is a wonderful experience, offering something for every taste.  Night life in Provincetown is famous: bars, discos, theater, comedy clubs, movies, cabarets, and moonlight over Cape Cod Bay, all within walking distance of Howards End.

We will keep you up to date on what's going on in town and will be more than happy to make restaurant or theater reservations for you. So please come and join us.  Our friendly and knowledgeable house staff are ready to help you make your visit (vacation) a pleasant and memorable one.
